So this is what happened: I had wasted all my weekend trying to finish season 4 of "Ugly Betty". So on Sunday night I decided to make myself a cup of coffee and do some of the most important stuff. I just thought that while I had my cup of coffee, I would see a bit of "Shutter Island". It looked to me the kind of movie I could easily leave in the middle.
Boy! Was I wrong!
In this movie, Leonardo Di Caprio plays the part of a US marshall Edward Daniels, who has been sent with his partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), to investigate the disappearance of a patient from highly secure facility for the criminally insane. As the story progresses, you and Edward Daniels realize that all is not as it seems.
Shutter Island is the kind of movie that you just can not give up. You just want to find out that among the many stories, what the actual truth is. And for the truth, you need to watch till the very end.
One of the reasons for which I highly recommend this movie is that it's not the kind of a movie with a cliched ending. You think it is, but it isn't.
You may find this movie sad (I did) and depressing, but it is definitely a suspense. So, if you're in a mood for suspense, watch it. If not, watch it because of Leonardo Di Caprio and Mark Ruffalo :P

EW summer books challenge
I've only taken part in only one reading challenge before this and that's because I'm looking for reading challenges that don't put lot of constraint on you. This challenge by Booking Mama is EXACTLY what I need: I get to read new books and I get to choose the books I wanna read.
My last reading challenge was a succes but not a total one, so this is also an attempt to do something completely right.
I am going to take this real slow n steady n sign up for level one: I'm gonna read 1-3 books. (I have a feeling I'm the first polliwog). But no sadness, because I have an aim to go up atleast one level.
Wish me luck!

Valentine's Day (2010)
Two things: All star ensemble and revolving around Valentine's day. Can you resist?
Ofcourse not!
The film revolves around different people, from different backgrounds, different age groups and different occupations (in short, different everything!), and the different stages their various love lives are at. This movie is all about love and when I say love I dont only mean romantic love.
All through the movie, we see how every relationship goes to the next level or stage, as every individual makes a descision which will change their lives and specifically their relationship in some way. Needless to say, all descisions have not been bond-strengthening descisions.
In this movie, you will a lot of faces and many people will watch this movie because of some actor that they really like. Why do I think that? Because the cast itslef is extremely divesrse. You have the beautiful Julia Roberts, the relatively new face of Bradley Cooper, the "Grey's Anatomy" hotties Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane, the newly famous star among teenagers, Taylor Lautner, every young girl's ideal Anne Hathaway and many many more (not mentioned beacuse there are so many!). In short, one of your favorites is definitlely in the movie.
If you're the kind of person who enjoys romance and is looking for something easy and light-hearted, Valentine's Day is the movie you should go for.

My name is Khan (2010)
Before this movie's release, many people were questioning whether Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) was reaching the decline of his career. "My name is Khan" was being called the movie which would be the deciding factor. With the release of this movie, SRK has shown that he is not yet ready to leave.
This movie revolves around Rizvan Khan (SRK), an Indian Muslim who moved to America before 9/11 took place. This movie shows his journey all over America, trying to meet the President of the United States to give him this message: "My name is Khan and I'm NOT a terrosrist". In parallel, we see Rizvan Khan's own story. from his childhood till the present, and his reason behind taking this seemingly absurd journey.
SRK and Kajol have always been a lovely couple in my opinion and they were so in this movie too. SRK's acting is obviously very good and so is Kajol's (who plays the role of a Hindu hair stylist, Mandira). Though I would have liked to see more of Jimmy Shergill and Sonya Jehan, altogether the film was brilliantly brought together with its hilariously funny and hearbreakingly sad moments.
Hats off to Karan Johar for yet another hit!

Sherlock Holmes (movie 2009)
Imagine London: late nineteenth, early twentieth century. Picture grand hotels and dirty little alleys. Put in the rich with their elegant dresses and their sophistication and the poor with their rough manners and rags. Drop in the fact that this is an era where there are no gadgets to be seen at all.
Imagine this time, place, society and level of scientific progress and then , in this setting, put in a mystery and two people, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. If you're the kind of person who enjoys such a setting, you have two hours well-spent!
As you know, I'm not the kind of person who gives a lot about the movie or book, so all I'll tell you is that in this movie Holmes and Watson chase a certain Lord Blackwood who is allegedly using the Dark Arts to fulfill his goals. During this chase, we have Holmes coming to terms with the idea, that his dear friend Watson will be getting married and leaving him soon.
There are many reasons why I highly recommend this movie. It has mystery, friendship and Robert Downey, Jr.(Sherlock Holmes), Jude Law(Dr. Watson) and Rachel Mc Adams(Irene Adler-yes! we have Irene Adler too!).
The chemsitry between Watson and Holmes and Irene Adler and Holmes is fantastic. All three of them are entertaining both as individuals and as a team. Hats off to the three actors for their wonderful acting!
At the end, I have only two more words left to say:
WATCH IT!!!
